The LED lighting is a nice feature and the inside storage bins feature an additional shelf that can fold down to make it possible to store tall items. The drawers include temperature controls that let you set them to Meat, Beverage or Deli settings. The drawers are easy to open and close, but I found the plastic's textured coatings a bit hard on my fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator includes the full suite of features you'd expect from a refrigerator in this price range that includes Wi-Fi as well as app support through GE's SmartHQ software. The app, which is available for iOS and Android devices, lets you control your refrigerator from anywhere in the world, and has many options for customizing. It also sends you notifications when a door is left open, when the fridge or freezer needs to be defrosted and when it's time to change the filter.

It would be nice if GE PYE22PYNFS included Precise fill it's an option in a few other GE fridges that allow you to preset how many cups of water you'd like to dispense at a time. It also has an indicator on the display of the fridge to display how much water you have remaining, but that's not as helpful as Precise Fill.

Bosch Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

Designed to look like a seamless part of your kitchen, Bosch's French-door refrigerator is a standout. The fridge uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. It also has a vegetable compartment that keeps vegetables and fruits fresher for longer, and dual compressors to preserve food items. The Ice maker we tested is one of the most efficient and produces the shape of a pyramid using only water. This fridge is ideal for a single household or a kitchenette that wants a built-in appearance and top-of-the best food preservation.

The fridge was rated the best refrigerator in our Refrigerators Test for various reasons. The temperature of the freezer remained constant at just above 0°F and never fluctuated more than a fraction - this is essential to avoid the risk of a freezer burn. The fridge's fridge section also performed well, reaching the temperature that was set for the initial setting within an hour and maintaining that temperature steady throughout the course of our tests.

Bosch is known for its premium appliances, so it's no surprise that this counter-depth refrigerator is also a smart appliance, with the option to connect to your home Wi-Fi and Bosch's Home Connect platform. The app allows you to control and monitor your refrigerator remotely from your smartphone or tablet. The fridge is a bit expensive, but it comes with great features and capabilities for the cost.

It is important to know the limitations of your fridge. You might need to be creative with tall objects because the fridge has a small shelf space. The shelves are not spillproof and can easily be stained or damaged by sharp items. The trays can be easily removed from the refrigerator. One of the best aspects of this refrigerator is that its ice maker is in the freezer, making it easy to transfer the ice to the refrigerator for use when needed. The freezer also comes with thoughtful design features, such as sliding drawers that allow you to organize your items. It also comes with a large bin that holds plenty of frozen food and a separate ice storage bin.

Smart InstaView panel is another awesome feature of the refrigerator. You can manage the temperature, lighting, and other aspects of your fridge using your smartphone. It's a simple way to monitor your refrigerator and control it, especially when you're not at home.

However, while the Smart InstaView is a neat feature, it doesn't necessarily add to the overall performance of the refrigerator. In fact it took longer to defrost and chill foods in this refrigerator than some of the others we tried. This is likely due to the larger capacity.

The doors are a different issue with this fridge. They have sunken handles at the front, which allows smaller people to open them from the bottom, but they're not easy for taller people to pull shut without slamming them. It would have been more effective to have front-mounted handles.

Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

This Frigidaire French door refrigerator is a great choice for those looking for a French-door fridge that won't break the budget. It's a basic refrigerator that might not be as appealing as some of its competitors however, it does have enough features to make a good choice. Its main feature is the adjustable temperature drawer, which helps keep foods like meat and vegetables fresher for longer. It also comes with a huge water dispenser as well as a good ice maker that operates quickly.

The "Chill Drawer", which sits over the two crisper bins, is a nice feature. This drawer lets you divert some of the refrigerator's cooling power directly into this area, which means you can put away food items that need extra attention. This feature can be adjusted using an outside slider that is located inside the drawer. You can also use this to adjust the general cooling settings for the whole fridge, but I've noticed that adjusting the general settings tends to be more effective than specific ones.

During my tests, the temperatures of the refrigerator stayed fairly consistent across different areas of the refrigerator. The temperatures in the middle, top and bottom of the refrigerator did not differ much from 38 degrees. This is a solid performance, but does not quite make it to the top of our ratings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. This fridge can be connected with a smart thermostat to obtain more precise readings of the internal temperature of your fridge.
